The best part of birthdays?? Â The cake of course!
I would love  to share with you a fun cake idea as well as some tips on how YOU can best enjoy all the birthdays you celebrate!
 Here’s  Tip #1: Use a box of cake mix to ensure a level, beautiful and delicious cake!  Don’t stress about finding the perfect from scratch recipe, especially if you are a busy working parent.  Your child will not know the difference, but they will know that you baked something special just for them!
I am a huge fan of the easy concept. Â Just because the technique is easy doesn’t mean you are sacrificing beauty!
For this cake I used a #32 tip. Â Simply hold the tip at the base of the cake, apply light pressure, and move up to the top. Â Make sure to take the frosting all the way over the top edge of the cake.
For the top, I used a #1M tip and just made little swirled dollops of frosting.
This is a classic technique that I have loved and admired forever. I left the better part of the top of the cake white and really like how clean it looks!
I used THIS perfect buttercream recipe for piping.
 The inside was something different all together!
I decided to make it a surprise inside cake, because who doesn’t love a good surprise???

A candle!
This tiny candle will be in every single piece of cake.  I just love that everyone who gets a piece will get some of the FUN surprise!
And whats even better is that sweet little candle is surrounded by a bright and festive Funfetti Cake!
Ready for those other two tips on how you can celebrate more?
Tip #2: Make a tradition.  Choose to always bake a cake.  Or make a certain flavor of cake.  Or buy a huge pack of candles on your baby’s first birthday and use the same candles every year.  Or make a personalized Birthday Book!
Tip #3: Relax. Â If you are a parent and trying to plan the perfect party for your most precious little angel, take a moment to sit back and catch your breath. Â Are family and friends going to be gathered around? Â Is there enough cake for everyone? Â Then that is all you need.
I know, I know… we all want our children to have the most special day. Â But truly… feeling loved is the greatest gift we can give them!
Yes, I always make each family member their choice of cake from scratch. We have progressed from Batman to Dragons to Chocolate Fudge Espresso cakes!
Oh yes, every birthday deserves a special cake. Right now I am in the middle of planning my little one´s 3rd birthday party including a Hello Kitty cake. Yay!
Yes! When I was little we would get my birthday cakes from my favorite bakery in town but now I bake them myself!
I love icing, so any birthday cake I make or buy just have TONS of the sugary stuff. Of course making it means I can steal a spoonful while baking 🙂
Yes, we always celebrate with cake! My 3 year old gets cupcakes and the rest of us have the big cake.

In our house, cake is a MUST for birthday celebrations.
Usually the birthday girl gets a GIANT cupcake for herself and them we have a regular cake for all the guests. This tradition was started on her first birthday.
We also celebrate half birthdays…. Because, well…. Our kids are just that special and hey, it’s fun.
We make half a birthday cake and eat it for dessert that night after dinner.

I always have cake for birthdays, mine included. And I always beg to make the cake, even for my own birthday! No one else in my family seems to mind 🙂
Yes, definitely cake on everyone’s birthday. Each of us has our favorites. Mine is carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, my husband’s is spice cake with caramel frosting, one daughter’s is white cake with a cooked frosting, and the other daughter’s is chocolate all the way. A birthday cake always tastes better than an everyday cake!!!
