Kids Say the Greatest Things

We often let the children pray before dinner.  Parker had just finished his prayer when Audrey declared it was her turn.

We all sat still, bowed our heads, and listened intently.

She began, “Dear Jesus, please bless our house… and Colton… and our house… and Parker… and la la la la la la la la la (singing) ….and daddy… la la la la la la la la  la la la la…”

And more “la la’s”,

and more “la la’s.”

Colton finally had had enough and said, “Audrey… come on.  Thats not prayin, its just delayin!”

To which we all burst into a fit of giggles.

I took this picture with my new phone using the free Instagram app.  I am completely addicted to Instragram and must know if you are on it.  I cant help but ‘heart’ almost every picture I see and comment on almost every one as well!

Its been SO cool getting to know people better through this beautiful and creative form of expression.  Please do let me know if you use it too!

The Audrey’s

My grandma.

My little girl.

Both creative.

Both adorable.

Both opinionated.

Both Audrey.

Both much loved.

Now Thats a Great Grandma

The day after Christmas we ventured to Fosston, MN to visit my Great Grandma Inga.

I never get it right, but I believe she is 94.  Or 93.  Or 97.

Lets just say she is over 40.

My Audrey is named after Grandma Inga’s daughter Audrey. (My grandma Audrey)

This picture gets me a bit choked up… even though the lighting was off and its a little blurry… its Inga and Eddie.  Grandma Inga was married to my Grandpa Eddie.  He passed away over a decade ago, but obviously was a huge impact in my life as I named my son after him.

This visit with Grandma was different.

The way she recalled memories of her beloved, the way she allowed herself to get caught up in thinking about him and their life together, I was choked up more than once listening to her reminisce.

So thankful for our time together!

The Birthday

Although her birthday is technically not until today, we celebrated Audrey’s birthday over the weekend.

My friend Kristen has this amazing picture of birthday streamers and I knew I wanted to do that for Audrey.

So I spent a whopping $3 and got three rolls of streamers, then taped them up all over the living room.

Audrey stood in the center and beamed a beautiful and proud grin at anyone who would walk by.  She was so tickled that it was all for her!

She was dancing and moving like a robot and having so much fun maneuvering through the pink and white crepe paper ‘room’.

Then we all hopped in the car and met the family over at Grandma’s house. Audrey was so excited to see her cake and even steal some frosting!

She is so just like her mama.

If you want to see more of her birthday cake its here!
