Making delicious piled-high stacks of cookies and frosting is not only easy but FUN!

Ingredients

  • 1 pouch Betty Crockerâ„¢ chocolate chip cookie mix
  • 1/2 c butter softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 c Betty Crockerâ„¢ Rich & Creamy vanilla frosting (from 1-lb
  • container)
  • Candy sprinkles if desired

Instructions

  • Heat oven to 350°F.
  • In medium bowl, stir cookie mix, butter and egg until soft dough forms.
  • Shape 3 (1/4-cup) balls from dough. Shape 3 more balls, using 3 level tablespoons dough for each. Place all 6 balls on ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake 9 to 11 minutes or until edges are light brown.
  • Meanwhile, shape 3 balls using 2 tablespoons dough for each ball. Shape 3 balls, 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Place all 6 balls on ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake 7 to 9 minutes or until edges are light brown.
  • Continue with remaining dough to make 3 balls of each of the following diameters: 1 1/4 inches, 1 inch, 3/4 inch and 1/2 inch. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 5 to 7 minutes or until edges are light brown.
  • Cool completely, about 30 minutes.
  • Heat frosting in microwavable bowl uncovered on High 30 seconds, stirring every 10 seconds, until frosting can be stirred smooth and fluid. Each tree will be a stack of 8 different size cookies.
  • To assemble 3 trees, stack cookies on serving platter, starting with largest size cookie on bottom, and stacking each smaller size cookie on top, spreading frosting between each layer. Drizzle remaining frosting over trees, and garnish with sprinkles.

Baking is not only fun, but therapeutic.  My friend Jocelyn (from GrandBaby Cakes) shared this article called Therapists Now Encourage Cooking and Baking as Cures for Depression.  Yes and yes.  I could not agree more… baking brings my heart joy, and I hope it does yours as well.

Christmas Tree Cookie Stack! An easy and delicious recipe and how-to!

Once I got started baking these fun Christmas tree cookie stacks, it was hard to stop.  They are pretty darn easy not to mention totally fun to share and eat!

Recipe shared from Betty Crocker with permission.

But you know I couldn’t leave it there… I just had to make one tree with a surprise-inside!

Christmas Tree Cookie Stack! An easy and delicious recipe and how-to!

I will share a little video how-to below… but this was so easy.  I just used the smallest size cookie cutter on the three largest cookies, cut out the center portion, then filled with treat of choice (these are rainbow colored mini chocolate chips).  Stack remaining cookies and finish with more sprinkles!

Cut into the cookie (much like you would a cake) and reveal the fun surprise inside!! (My cookies were really soft and gooey and crumbly -which is awesome- but if you want more precise cuts simply chill cookie stack for 30 minutes prior to cutting.)

Everything I made was courtesy of Betty Crocker; from the cookie package to the frosting!
