Do It Anyway

I have often reflected on this poem by Mother Teresa.  And today, as I find myself getting caught up in the “first” parts of these thoughts, I want to remind myself to focus on the second.

And do it anyway.

Do It Anyway

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered.

Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.

Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies.

Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you.

Be honest and sincere anyway.

What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight.

Create anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous.

Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, will often be forgotten.

Do good anyway.

Give the best you have, and it will never be enough.

Give your best anyway.

In the final analysis, it is between you and God.  It was never between you and them anyway.

-Attributed to Mother Teresa, and is written on the wall of her home for children in Calcutta, India.

  9. Jeez…this was basically a breath of fresh air. It always surprises me (and surprises me that it still surprises me) how real God is. He, of course, knows my heart- and knew I needed to read this today.

Thank you for being bold enough to proclaim Him and encourage us around you.

Interesting words of wisdom that I needed to read this evening. I have no idea how I ended up here on your blog, but I am happy I did on this night after a very long day of 14 draining hours. So anyway. There you have it. Your sharing of someone else long ago words helped a stranger today.
