I’m Sick of Being So Sweet

I mean really.

Everything I make has seven pounds of sugar in it.  Its got to stop!

But…I must warn you.

If you do not like veggies or pickling, you might want to turn back now.

Chad's been pickling peppers.

He almost turns it into art.

Each jar is a mini masterpiece of color, variety, and flavor.

People LOVE his pickled peppers.  People who love veggies that is.  I have never eaten a single piece.  I dislike peppers immensely.  And think I am allergic to anything that has been pickled.

I am a terrible wife.

Its part of the reason I make him so many cakes and cookies.

Guilt baking.

There is an extra fridge in our garage that is dedicated to his creations.

We will probably go through all of this.

And be advised.  If you invite us over, we are probably bringing some.

We might even share. :)

  7. Katie says:

WOW! I’ve never been brave enough to tried lots of pickled things but our neighbor brought over pickled fish and I actually liked it. I really like those banana peppers from Subways and I bet they are pickled. Those are amazing creations!

OH my word! I am not a huge veggie eater, but that looks beautifully delicious! Those pictures are gorgeous! Now that is talent to make veggies look so good! Amazing!

  10. CFMama says:

I do not think I would enjoy eating them since I am not a fan of pickled things either but I WOULD enjoy staring at them on my kitchen counter, and all lined up in my fridge.
If I had a spare fridge I think I would fill it with desserts though. Hehe

  18. Tina Fisher says:

Wow! My hubby would love this. Do you have to refridge all this?
Looks so yummy! I even like the look of the fridge…being so full and all!

  19. Jenny says:

Those look delicious! I love pickled things. Even…wait for it…pickled eggs!!! Especially when eaten with pretzels and ranch dressing. Hmmm…I wonder if any bars are open yet so I could go and get one.

  20. Laura says:

Holy fridge full!! Chad has been one busy guy!
This is why we get along so well, I don’t like these things either. I was allergic to almost all veggies, but I am slowly learning to eat them with my kids. I figure if I make them eat it I should too….WHY must we grow up like that as parents. (I still won’t touch peppers though!) :)

  21. Casey says:

Those are beautiful jars of peppers!
And that fridge!! WOW! What a gorgeous sight to see.
You are one lucky lady to have a hubby who loves to be in the kitchen. Mine would be all… “Kitchen?? What’s that?? You mean this big thing turns on, heats up and cooks food??”

  22. jenney says:

Pete Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers. If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickles peppers, how many peppers did Peter Piper pick?
My husband was going to pickle our cucumbers this year, but he never got around to it. They are sitting (rotting) on our picnic table right now as I couldn’t stand them in the house a day longer. Next year perhaps he will grow AND pickle them :o )
    Your husbands look beautiful!

  23. Kami Rude says:

Looks phenomenal to me! Yummo :)

  24. carma says:

have you ever tried putting them on a sub sandwich? That’s exactly what I would do mmmmmmmmm…..
    We kinda like pickly things.
And can your husband get any more Perfect???????

  25. Kristin says:

So beautiful. I love the vivid colors. I don’t know about the taste (I tend to think I side with you), but I could just stare at those colors all day. I bet it would be better for my sweet tooth, too!

  26. Karen says:

OK, so the talent in your family doesn’t end with you.
    I get it.
I like pickles. Used to eat them on Saturday mornings while I was watching cartoons, in fact. But I am not so sure about pickled “other things.” As in, did I see cauliflower in one of those jars? I am having a very hard time imaging that taste!
And I just can’t eat peppers.
But I cannot deny your hubby’s talent, and my admiration of it. *grin*

  27. Heather F says:

Excuse my lack of understanding on the subject, but why do you have to refrigerate them? Does he not process the jars? Is that why the pickles I make aren’t crisp?

  28. Oh wow! They’re so bright and colorful! I’d hate to open them and ruin the ‘looks’ of them! =0)
    Erica

  29. Amber says:

I LOVE Vegtables. I am not ashamed to admit it. I love sweets too but they put weight on. Everything looks yummy.

  30. They are not actually “canned”, but just refrigerator type. That does make them stay crisp.

  31. Melissa says:

Wow! I’m all crazy about those peppers now! Great pictures!

  32. Michelle M. says:

    Wow! That looks so pretty.

  33. Sonya says:

  34. BP says:

You’ve been busy at your house. I like the colors! I don’t know if I’d like pickled peppers.
Hope you’re having a lovely day!

  35. Jolene says:

Playdate at my house! You, of course need to bring the peppers! ;) Seriously, I would love to have you and Laura and the rest of our buds over, how fun!

  36. I’m so there!!  You pick the day… I’ll bring the goodies!!

  37. Bethany says:

That looks so good! I’ve been on a semi-healthy food kick lately so all those veggies– yum!

  38. Christy says:

The photo’s of your niece are beautiful! The peppers, I don’t like peppers either, although Chad and the kids do. I will say the amount of peppers is impressive!
