My Four Legged Family

filed under: Miscellaneous on May 20, 2011

Have I ever introduced you to my other family members???

This is Raina and Dodger.  (Dodger is totally sticking out his tongue!)

Dodger is badly in need of his Springtime haircut.  He will look like a completely different dog in a few days!

Raina is hubby’s hunting dog.  She is a German Shorthair pointer… and she loves to be outside chasing up birds.  And oddly enough, she also loves water! (something not normal for Shorthairs)

The kids adore the dogs, and I love that they have only ever known life with pets.

Well, dogs.

I am not a cat person.

Please dont tell any cat people that.

Anyway, I have been thinking lots about the dogs lately because of some new food that Purina has out.  We have always fed our dogs one brand and now I am thinking of changing!  I am really liking the new Selects stuff I saw on Tiff’s blog. (plus her dogs are adorable!)

Feel free to stop over and check out Tiff’s Blog, she is giving away a $100 Visa Giftcard from Blogher and Purina!

Your dogs are wonderful. Our Max is a Lab/Retriever mix and strangely enough does not like the water! Great photos.

  • Corrie says:

Your pups are so adorable. I used to have a pointer too and was absolutely nuts about him. Great job capturing the lovely images. My dogs seem to always move or shift or do whatever it takes to look weird right as I’m pressing the button down on the camera!

Love it Amanda! What a very handsome family you have indeed!!! Hi Guys! Have a wonderful weekend!;)

  • Renee says:

Cute dogs 🙂 Would you like another? LOL I keep trying to pawn mine off on someone…

  • Juli says:

What kind of dog is dodger?

  • Amanda Rettke says:

He is a Yorki-Poo.  Mom was a poodle and dad was a Yorshire Terrier. 🙂

  • Darla says:

Hey Amanda … will you go to face book and “like” my speaker page (if you want). It’s Darla Baerg – Christian speaker. I hope to come to MN sometime to speak!

  • Allison says:

We have a shorthaired pointer that LOVES water also! I actually thought they were more of a water breed? Ours has webbed feet.

How funny that your short hair wasn’t suppose to like water, but does. My husband has 3 English Pointers and 1 short hair and she loved the water (she passed away last summer, 14 yrs. old) she even hunted a litte that last winter season. She just wouldn’t give up. Love your blog.

I am totally not a cat person either! LOL

Cuties! Maverick misses having a playmate in the house. It’s so fun to have two dogs together.

  • The Lumberjack's Wife says:

I’m not a cat person as well.
    Rock on, Dog People!
    Rock on.

  • Martha says:

Pointers are such funny dogs. My partner’s family calls them “aliens in dog suits”. Our GSP also loves water, provided it is an ocean, or lake or river to jump in. She very carefully steps around puddles, even if she’s just climbed out of the creek!

  • SweetSugarBelle says:

Raina is my DREAM dog. I love watching pointers run…its like they ar happiest when they are sipping across and open field! Maybe one of these days!

  • Crystal Whittaker Gracioso says:

Amanda! I never knew you had dogs! How cute! I love the one of Dodger sticking out his tongue. Our “Boxador” (mom is a boxer dad is a lab) smiles for treats…lol.
So sweet…I think kids really do need pets.
I’m trying to talk my husband into taking in a second dog…a Neapolitan Mastiff…HAH!

  • Kevin says:
