Ingredients

  • 1 loaf Italian bread or any sturdy loaf bread
  • 1 tbsp. oil
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped green pepper
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 package McCormick® Brown Gravy Mix
  • 1/2 cup milk, I prefer whole milk with this recipe
  • 15 oz jarred processed cheese sauce, such as Cheez Whiz®
  • 1 lb steak bites
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick or 113g) butter
  • 1 tbsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. dried parsly

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Place bread on baking sheet covered with parchment paper.
  3. Cut an oval or circle out of the top of the bread and remove bread center to make room for the dip.
  4. Carefully remove more bread to create a consistent hole in the bread. Chop all bread into bite-size pieces.
  5. Set aside for baking.
  6. Heat oil in large skillet on medium to medium-high heat. Add vegetables; cook and stir 3 minutes or until tender-crisp. Stir Gravy Mix, cheese sauce, milk and 2/3 of steak bites into skillet until well blended.

  7. Spoon dip into bread.
  8. Bake 15 minutes or until heated through.
  9. Melt 1 stick butter. Add garlic powder and dried parsley. Stir until well combined. Coat all bread pieces with butter mixture and then place on a parchment (or foil) lined cookies sheet. Bake for 15 in the oven with the bread bowl. Pieces may need to be turned once half-way through baking.

  10. Serve dip with bread pieces and place remaining steak bites on top.
