Fried Banana Bites
Fried Banana Bites are a fun dessert made with sweetened bananas folded into a wonton wrapper, fried to a crispy golden brown, and dusted with confectioners' sugar. When you take your first bite, you will get the crunch from the fried wonton, followed by the caramelized bananas inside. YUM! And, if preferred, you can make them in an air fryer!

- 3 medium bananas, chopped
- ¼ cup (50 g) light brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 pinch kosher salt
- 18 wonton wrappers
- 1 large egg, room temperature, beaten
- vegetable or canola oil, for frying
- confectioners' sugar, for garnish
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
To a medium bowl, add the bananas, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Mix well to ensure all ingredients are evenly distributed.
Lay out the wonton wrappers on a clean surface.
Brush the edges of each wonton wrapper with beaten egg.
Working one at at time, add 1 tablespoon of the banana filling to the center of each wrapper.
To fold the wrappers, bring two opposite corners of the wonton wrapper towards the center, followed by the other two corners.
While bringing in the corners, gently push up the filling to avoid any air pockets and ensure a good seal.
Firmly press the edges together to seal the banana bites completely.
Place the assembled bites on the lined baking sheet while you prepare the remaining bites.
In a heavy-bottom pot, heat about 2 inches of oil to 365°F.*
Working in batches to avoid overcrowding, carefully place the assembled banana bites into the hot oil.
Fry the banana bites for 2-3 minutes, or until they turn golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried banana bites from the oil.
Place the fried bites on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Repeat with the remaining bites, making sure the oil is at 365°F before each batch.
Dust with confectioners' sugar. Serve warm.
*Air Fryer Instructions:
- Preheat air fryer to 350°F.
- Lightly spray cooking spray on the banana bites.
- Air fry the banana bites for approximately 5 minutes, or until they are golden and crispy.
- Dust with confectioners' sugar. Serve warm.
