Cinnamon Rolls with Whipped Cream Cheese Icing

Ingredients

Cinnamon Rolls

  • 1 can (13.8 ounces) pizza dough
  • 3 tablespoons butter, room temperature
  • cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons McCormick® Cinnamon

Whipped Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 3 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup (½ stick / 57 g) butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • teaspoon kosher salt

Instructions

Cinnamon Rolls

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Prepare an 8 or 9-inch round pie dish with baker's spray, goop, or parchment paper.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a 12 x 6-inch rectangle.
  • In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon with a fork.
  • Spread 3 tablespoons butter over the dough so that it covers the entire surface.
  • Sprinkle the brown sugar and spice mixture evenly over the butter.
  • Starting at the edge that is 6 inches long, roll up the dough into a log.
  • Cut into 6 even pieces.
  • Place rolls in pie dish on its side so that layers of the roll is visible.
  • Bake for 25-35 minutes. Rolls should be dark brown but not burned.

Whipped Cream Cheese Frosting

  • While the rolls are baking, add cream cheese, butter, confectioners' sugar, vanilla, and salt to the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment.
  • Mix on low to just combine. Once ingredients are all incorporated, turn mixer on high and leave it for 4-5 minutes. Frosting should be light and fluffy.
  • When rolls are done baking, allow them to cool for up to five minutes.
  • While the rolls are still warm, generously spread the frosting over the tops. Serve warm.
