Ingredients

Peppermint Hot Cocoa Mix

  • 1 ½ cups (177 g) Dutch-processed cocoa powder
  • 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 cup peppermint candies, finely crushed* (about 40 starlight peppermint candies)

To Serve

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together cocoa powder, sugar, salt, and crushed peppermint candies until fully combined.
  • Transfer the mix to an airtight container and store in a cool, dry place for up to 3 months.

To Make One Serving of Hot Chocolate:

  • In a small saucepan, heat 1 cup whole milk over medium heat until steaming but not boiling.
  • Remove from heat. Whisk in ¼ cup peppermint hot chocolate mix until fully dissolved and smooth.
  • Pour into a mug and top with whipped cream, marshmallows, or peppermint candies, if desired.

Notes

*a food processor works best, but can also be crushed in a ziplock baggie with a hammer or rolling pin.
