Peppermint Hot Cocoa Mix

Ingredients
Peppermint Hot Cocoa Mix
1 ½
cups
(177 g) Dutch-processed cocoa powder
1
cup
(200 g) granulated sugar
½
teaspoon
kosher salt
1
cup
peppermint candies,
finely crushed* (about 40 starlight peppermint candies)
To Serve
whole milk,
for serving
whipped cream,
for topping (optional)
mini marshmallows,
for topping (optional)
peppermint candies,
crushed for topping (optional)
Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together cocoa powder, sugar, salt, and crushed peppermint candies until fully combined.
Transfer the mix to an airtight container and store in a cool, dry place for up to 3 months.
To Make One Serving of Hot Chocolate:
In a small saucepan, heat 1 cup whole milk over medium heat until steaming but not boiling.
Remove from heat. Whisk in ¼ cup peppermint hot chocolate mix until fully dissolved and smooth.
Pour into a mug and top with whipped cream, marshmallows, or peppermint candies, if desired.
Notes
*a food processor works best, but can also be crushed in a ziplock baggie with a hammer or rolling pin.
