Classic Fettuccine Alfredo

  • 8 ounces fettuccine
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • Grated or finely shredded Parmesan cheese for garnish, optional


  1. Cook fettuccine according to package directions.
  2. In a large saucepan melt butter then add cream, salt, and pepper.
  3. Bring to a slow rolling boil.

  4. Reduce heat and boil gently for 3 to 5 minutes or until mixture begins to thicken.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese.

  6. Drain pasta.
  7. Add pasta to hot sauce.
  8. Toss to combine.
  9. Transfer to warm serving dish. Serve immediately. If desired, sprinkle with additional Parmesan cheese.
