Hi, I’m Amanda Rettke — the baker, writer, and photographer behind I Am Baker.

For over 15 years, I’ve been creating recipes that are not only delicious but designed to make you look like a kitchen rockstar — no matter your skill level.

I’m a self-taught baker, mom of five, and passionate storyteller. My work has been featured in publications such as The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Country Living Magazine, People Magazine, Epicurious, Brides, and Romantic Homes. Additionally, I’ve contributed to The Food Network and HuffPost Food.

I’ve authored two bestselling cookbooks: Surprise-Inside Cakes and Homestead Recipes: Midwestern Inspirations, Family Favorites, and Pearls of Wisdom from a Sassy Home Cook.

I Am Baker has a Facebook community with over 8,000,000 followers, an Instagram page with over 450,000 followers, and a Pinterest page with over 10,000,000 monthly views.

But beyond the accolades, what matters most to me is helping real people bake better, laugh more, and feel confident in the kitchen.

A Little Behind the Scenes

I’m fueled by Jesus, coffee, sarcasm, and an overwhelming desire to turn every dessert into something a little extra. I live in Minnesota, where the winters are long and the oven is always on.

When I’m not baking, I’m wrangling kids, dreaming up new recipe ideas, or building the kind of legacy that teaches my children what it means to work hard and love well.

I’ve collaborated with brands like KitchenAid, McCormick, and Challenge Butter, delivering high-impact content across social, blog, and beyond. I am very selective about who I work with, and only ever feature brands that I use and trust.
