UPDATED: Tutorial HERE

So every year I try to prove how Irish I am.

I tell everyone my maiden name… it’s about as Irish as they come.

I show them my red(ish) hair and my pale skin and freckles.

I embellish greatly how much beer I can drink.

All so I can go out and celebrate “my” holiday.

The truth is I am 1/16th Irish.  My hair is more dishwater brown than red and my favorite beer is Mikes Hard Lemonade.  (yes, I know that is technically not a beer)

So this year I am just going to make a cake and hope no one pinches me.

I took the picture below and immediately scrapped the idea of it because I didn’t feel like ironing the fabric.  Yes, I am that lazy.  But then I figured, what the heck!  Why not just share it?  So here you go.  Happy Leprechaun-Shamrock-Pot-of-Gold-at-the-end-of-a-Rainbow-Dont-Look-at-the-Wrinkles Cake. 🙂

There will be a tutorial on this cake in a couple of days… and it will also show you how to do the mini-heart cake.  Sorry it’s taken so long, and thanks so much for your patience!

  1. This cake is just beautiful. And, I love that you shared the imperfectly perfect…or would it be perfectly imperfect…photo. People love that, to know that food bloggers are just real people who like to eat, do not like to iron, and like to celebrate the big and the little things in life…like being 1/16th Irish. 🙂

  2. Don’t worry I think nowadays, we’re all a 16th this and a 3rd of that, but doesn’t this make us all the better? I am soooo looking forward to your tutorials, can’t wait to discover how you get those cutties in a cake ¿? Thank you for sharing your work!

  3. Haha Amanda you make me laugh! That is SO what I do, not ironing the table cloth then take photos of cupcakes on it..oops!

LOVE the cake -as always! Hope you have a fabulous St Patty’s Day!

  4. I too, take pictures with fabric backgrounds and hate ironing them each time to take a picture until I learned a neat trick to keep me from it. I use leftover wrapping paper tubes! Tape the fabric along the end to the tube then roll! This is an easy way to store them to. I use a new trashcan to hold them. I use a couple of rubberbands to keep them secure when not in use. Hope this helps! Love your cakes always!!
