Cranberry Vodka Slush is cranberry juice, lemon-lime soda, and vodka, frozen into a slush mixture, and served topped with more lemon-lime soda. It’s the perfect Christmas and New Year’s Eve drink to serve at all of your parties! Add my Christmas Punch to your list of alcoholic drinks, too!
Cranberry Vodka Slush
This adult beverage is a holiday drink, but would also be delicious in the summertime, so don’t forget about it. It’s a festive and refreshing drink to serve with a lovely red color from the cranberries. Plus, the lemon-lime soda gives it some carbonation for a few bubbles. Serve it in a large punch bowl with some sugared cranberries on the side and let your guests help themselves! Cheers!
Ingredients & Substitutions
Cranberry Juice: With cranberries being a huge part of the holidays, why not add a Christmas slush recipe to your list of holiday items?
Lemon-Lime Soda: Use your favorite lemon-lime soda, like Sprite or 7-up. If you don’t have any on hand, make your own soda to use! Or, try this with a different soda like Ginger Ale.
Alcohol: This is definitely a spiked (adult) drink with added vodka to the mix. You can use your favorite brand of vodka. Of course, you could leave that out entirely or substitute it with a non-alcoholic vodka to make this a Christmas Mocktail Recipe.
Does Vodka Freeze?
No, vodka does not freeze, but this recipe will still give you the frozen slush you are hoping for, even with the added vodka. Although pure vodka will not freeze on its own, the ratio of vodka to cranberry juice and soda is just right to pop in the freezer and turn to slush. If you add too much vodka, that could affect the freezing.
Can I Make This Ahead of Time?
Yes! In fact, for the mixture to turn into slush, I recommend giving it plenty of time to be in the freezer, but at least 8 hours before serving.
How to Store Cranberry Vodka Slush
Cranberry Vodka Slush can be stored in the freezer for up to a few months.
Cranberry Vodka Slush
Ingredients
- 4 cups (1,012 g / 1.012 kg) cranberry juice
- 2 bottles (16.9 ounces each) lemon-lime soda, we used Sprite (about 4 cups total)

To serve
- 1 cup slush mixture
- lemon-lime soda, for topping
Instructions
- In a large freezer-safe container with a tight-fitting lid, add cranberry juice, soda, and vodka. Cover with the lid and freeze overnight. (I highly recommend an old, clean, plastic ice cream container or a rectangle/square container.) Be sure to label the container and note it is alcohol.
To serve
- Add about 1 cup of slush to a lowball glass.
- Top the glass off with lemon-lime soda (about ยผ cup). Stir and enjoy!

This sounds beyond delicious! I love a tart, slushie drink! I will be sure to use pure cranberry juice and not cranberry cocktail juice. That would make it too sweet! Can’t wait for Christmas Eve, to serve this. Thanks for sharing and Merry Christmas!
We used to mix up a drink with just cranberry juice and vodka and called it :Rangoon Ruby! LOL
Love the story! Do you used cranberry juice cocktail or unsweetened cranberry juice? Thank you! Love your recipes!
I was wondering the same thing.
I used cranberry juice cocktail, it was an Ocean Spray big bottle.
We do you get slush mixture?
You make it, that is what this is a recipe for. Just look at the recipe card, see the ingredients, read the instructions, prepare, and then you have a slush mixture.
What is slush mix?
Hi Diane – are you asking what slush is? It is described in the post and recipe card. It’s a drink.
This is similar to a slush called Red Rooster with just cranberry juice and vodka!
I made exactly as recipe states! I do not have โscoopableโ slushโฆโฆ I have a โsolidโ block of ice! Was going to give as a gift! What do I do? Have made Brandy Slush in the past and it was never solid. Thank you!
Just use a fork to scrape. It will work! ๐
Mine is rock solid as wellโฆ
Just give it a few minutes on the counter. Scrape some out (or scoop) and add the liquid. It will be great.
If I don’t want to do the “slush” style, could I just use the same ingredients and serve over chipped ice ?
I made this for our family’s Christmas celebration for this weekend. This is the perfect slush recipe! I did use Diet Cranberry Juice, Sprite Zero (both my dad and I are diabetics, and my sister likes to watch her sugars anyway), and whatever Vodka I had in the cabinet. I sampled it today, and it is perfect! I am so pleased and excited to have a lower-sugar option for a cocktail!. Thank you so much for sharing your recipe with us!
