Ingredients & Substitutions

Lime Juice: Lime juice is added to the rim of the cocktail glasses as well as in the drink. Freshly squeezed juice is best, but bottled juice would also work.

Sugar Rim: The sugared rim is created using lime juice and granulated sugar. It complements the flavors in the drink.

Mint: Mint will be muddled (gently crushed) with the simple syrup to bring out the vibrant, minty flavor to the cocktail.

Rum: Rum is the alcoholic base of a mojito. Look for light rum, also known as white or silver rum.

Coconut Rum: Coconut rum is a coconut-flavored, white rum-based liqueur. Choose your favorite brand (like Malibou) to use.

Coconut Milk: If available, use canned unsweetened coconut milk in the white Christmas mojito. It is thicker, creamier, and has a stronger coconut taste when compared to carton coconut milk. If using coconut milk from a carton, be sure to shake it up well.

Club Soda: For the fizz in the drink, I topped off the mojito with club soda. You could also use sparkling water or seltzer water.

Sugared Cranberries: To really put you in the holiday spirit, garnish the cocktail with sugared cranberries! They make the drink as visually appealing as they are delicious.

White Christmas Mojito Mocktail

If you would like to make the Christmas Mojito without alcohol (a mocktail), you can! Simply omit both the light rum and coconut rum. Instead, add a little bit more coconut milk, according to taste.

Can I Make This Without A Cocktail Shaker?

Sure! If you donโ€™t have a cocktail shaker, you can still easily make this drink. Use a traveling coffee mug with a tight lid. After muddling the mint with simple syrup, pour in the lime juice, light rum, coconut rum, and coconut milk. Add ice, cover the opening mouth part, and get shakinโ€™! Open it up and pour it into the glass of ice. Top with club soda. Or, make this without shaking and just layer the ingredients into a glass over ice and stir.

Can I Make A Larger Batch For A Party?

Absolutely, you can make a large batch of this drink to serve a large crowd. To do so, simply multiply the quantities of each ingredient by the desired number of servings you want to make. You could mix the mint leaves, simple syrup, lime juice, light rum, coconut rum, and coconut milk together in a large pitcher or bowl. Cover it, and store it in the refrigerator for up to a day or two. When ready to serve, set out the glasses with sugared rims, let your guests add ice, and top with the mixed drink and club soda. Cheers!

What a perfect winter cocktail, even with its tropical flavor from coconut rum. I also liked the bubbles from the club soda. And, of course, the sugared cranberries were a colorfully sweet bonus.

This is a fun drink. I love the addition of the coconut. I didn't care for the club soda in it but that is an easy thing to change!
