A fun cake for Easter, this Easter Cake – Surprise Inside Cake is one that will leave guests shocked and delighted!

Easter Egg Surprise Inside Cake!

I made a cake in the shape of a giant egg. And trust me, it is not as hard as you would think!

To decorate the cake I just sectioned off four areas and decorated them each with royal icing or fondant. You can also use buttercream if you don’t want to mess with royal icing.

I used my White Cake recipe, made 4 layers, carved the egg shape and then frosted with whipped buttercream.

  1. I just love reading about all the baking you do. I makes me want to bake more plus you make it look so easy. Thanks for all the wonderful sweets you make.

  2. I was in love with this cake already but my jaw literally dropped as I scrolled down to see the chick hiding inside- gives new meaning to the “chick inside the cake!” I am definitly gonna be looking around this site

  3. This is an unbelievably delightful cake! How were you able to create a little chick inside the cake? Thank you for the inspiration.

  4. Love you, love your ideas, love $60 (because that would buy the 2 new maternity skirts I need) BUT (did you say the comments HAD to be all positive?!?!) I have to say, I would have liked the TRUE meaning of Easter to show up in the inside of that cake. I know you’ve done a cross cake in the past. But we try to stay a bit away from all that…chickies, Easter bunny, etc and focus on what Christ did for us on Resurrection Sunday. I guess I’m a fuddy-duddy like that. But I DO Still love you.
