I had a lovely reader ask if I could make her son some Super Mario cookies for his birthday.

I said yes.

I am crazy.

See, I have been coveting this KopyKake thing that my friend Marion uses. She is awesome and makes the most gloriously beautiful cookies and I hope I can be just like her when I grow up. (maturity-wise of course, I think she is actually younger than me in people years)

Whenever I have someone ask me to make a cookie that involves an outline of some sort I freeze up and my palms sweat and I have irrational thoughts and just want to make excuses as to why I am unable to make it.

But I decided to take the bull by the horns and attempt this one…

The famous brothers and a lone mushroom.

I know that everyone and their mother have made Nintendo cookies and cakes and I am not making waves in the confectionery design community with my little mushrooms…

but it was a big step for me OK?

This is what was giving me nightmares. The faces.

(I totally went back and added the “L” on Luigi’s hat… whoops)

It was a definitely a challenge… and for that I am grateful. Its fun to get out of the box. Right?

I just hope next time someone wants a game theme Pac Man is involved.

So long Luigi! (I think he’s gonna miss me)
