Ingredients & Substitutions
- Fresh Lemon Juice: Freshly squeezed lemon juice gives the best bright, tangy flavor. Youโll need about 4 to 6 lemons, depending on size. Bottled lemon juice can be used in a pinch to make cherry lemonade with condensed milk, but the flavor wonโt be quite as fresh.
- Dark Sweet Cherries: I used sweet cherries (like Bing cherries or similar sweet cherry varieties) for a smooth, fruity flavor that blends well with the creaminess. Frozen cherries work great; just thaw them first. You can also use tart cherries if you prefer a sharper, more tangy flavor.
- Sweetened Condensed Milk: This is what gives the lemonade its creamy texture and sweetness. There isnโt a great direct substitute, but you can reduce the amount slightly if you want it less sweet.
- Granulated Sugar: Adds extra sweetness and helps balance the tart lemon juice. You can adjust this based on how sweet your cherries are.
- Cold Water: Helps dilute and balance the flavors. Add more or less depending on how strong you like your lemonade.
- Ice: Essential for serving it cold and refreshing.

Variations
- Make it a mocktail: Add sparkling water instead of still water for a fizzy version.
- Make it creamier: Add a little more sweetened condensed milk for a richer, dessert-style drink.
- Spiked version: Stir in a splash of vodka or light rum for an adult version (add just before serving).
- Change the fruit: Try raspberries or strawberries instead of cherries. (You may want to strain before serving.)
- More tart: Reduce the sugar slightly for a sharper, more lemon-forward flavor.

FAQs
Can I make creamy cherry lemonade ahead of time?
Yes. You can make creamy cherry lemonade a few hours in advance and store it in the refrigerator. Just give it a good stir before serving since it may naturally separate a bit as it sits.
Can I use frozen cherries instead of fresh?
Yes. Frozen cherries work very well in this recipe. Just thaw them first, so they blend more easily and evenly.
Can I make creamy cherry lemonade less sweet?
Absolutely. You can reduce the granulated sugar or start with half the amount and adjust to taste. The sweetness of the cherries will also affect the final flavor.
Why is my lemonade separating?
This is normal because of the sweetened condensed milk. Just stir or whisk it again before serving to bring it back together.
Can I make creamy lemonade without sweetened condensed milk?
You can, but it wonโt have the same creamy texture. If you skip it, youโll essentially have a cherry lemonade instead of a creamy version.
What is creamy lemonade?
Creamy lemonade is a variation of classic lemonade made with sweetened condensed milk. It keeps the bright lemon flavor but adds a smooth, slightly rich texture.

How to Store Creamy Cherry Lemonade
Store creamy cherry lemonade in a covered pitcher or airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Stir or whisk well before serving, as it may naturally separate while it sits. For the best flavor and texture, serve chilled over ice and enjoy fresh. This drink is not ideal for freezing due to the dairy content.
