A fun cake for Easter, this Easter Cake – Surprise Inside Cake is one that will leave guests shocked and delighted!
I made a cake in the shape of a giant egg. And trust me, it is not as hard as you would think!
To decorate the cake I just sectioned off four areas and decorated them each with royal icing or fondant. You can also use buttercream if you don’t want to mess with royal icing.
But you know I can’t make a cake without a surprise inside…
So I made a little chick Surprise Inside Cake!
My kids loved it and were so excited!
I used my White Cake recipe, made 4 layers, carved the egg shape and then frosted with whipped buttercream.
You are so talented! Wow! You’ve inspired me to start decorating!
Thanks for the fun contest!
That cake is absolutely beautiful…bet it’s good too.
That cake is adorable! I would love to see a tutorial. I also love the fact that I have finally found a blogger I can enjoy who lives in Minneapolis (so I understand all the references to local/weather things!)
Love it! My kids thought it was an amazing surprise. I love your ideas and it has made me more creative in my own baking I’ve made your multi-colored layered cakes but haven’t gotten brave enough for shapes inside. Soon though. Thanks for visiting my blog. That is so sweet.
I love the cake! Your frosting is beautiful and the chick is such a cute surprise. Love it! Sandi
