A fun cake for Easter, this Easter Cake – Surprise Inside Cake is one that will leave guests shocked and delighted!
I made a cake in the shape of a giant egg. And trust me, it is not as hard as you would think!
To decorate the cake I just sectioned off four areas and decorated them each with royal icing or fondant. You can also use buttercream if you don’t want to mess with royal icing.
But you know I can’t make a cake without a surprise inside…
So I made a little chick Surprise Inside Cake!
My kids loved it and were so excited!
I used my White Cake recipe, made 4 layers, carved the egg shape and then frosted with whipped buttercream.
You are SO talented. You are inspiring me to finally try and decorate cookies. I’ve tried some cakes, none as wonderful as yours. I need to start practicing!
very cute! I wish I was more creative!
Oh, my, Amanda. I would LOVE to win baked goodies from you…even more than the cash! And this Easter cake…WOW! I don’t think I have the patience or talent to pull that one off, so I’ll just have to oogle at yours.
So clever!
Pick me! Pick me!
That is so adorable! I love how the chick turned out. I’ve been following your blog off and on for a while and this has to be one of my favorite baked goodies thus far!

I couldn’t believe it when I saw the baby chick inside. How did you do it!! AMAZING!!!!!!!
Wow…your pictures and cakes are amazing, I want to eat my monitor LOL. Kidding aside, it’s fun to check out your blog and see what you’ve whipped up. Have a great Easter!
Your stuff always looks so delicious! I just want to make it all.
Thank you for the sweet comment! I’ve been following your blog for a while and LOVE all your darling creations. This Easter Egg Cake is brilliant and beyond adorable. Easter is by far the cutest holiday, in my opinion, and this is one of the sweetest Easter dessert ideas I’ve seen.
