A fun cake for Easter, this Easter Cake – Surprise Inside Cake is one that will leave guests shocked and delighted!

Easter Egg Surprise Inside Cake!

I made a cake in the shape of a giant egg. And trust me, it is not as hard as you would think!

To decorate the cake I just sectioned off four areas and decorated them each with royal icing or fondant. You can also use buttercream if you don’t want to mess with royal icing.

I used my White Cake recipe, made 4 layers, carved the egg shape and then frosted with whipped buttercream.

  1. I thought I was done baking for this weekend but you just changed my mind! I LOVE this cake! Thanks for the great idea!

  2. This is adorable! I love all the icing colours and how you’ve decorated each side with a different pattern. Also, judging from those layers, your icing-to-cake ratio deserves a thumbs up! Have a wonderful Easter! ♥

  3. This is gorgeous. I am usually a cookie baker myself, but between this and the heart cake tutorial, that may just change. After all; I was thinking of baking a cake for the guy who will be giving me my first tattoo! (The reason for the cake baking is a long story, I can explain it in an email if you’d like. Just give me your address.)
Now what I want to know is, how did you manage to give it some eyes? And can you do a cake with a flower in the middle? This is my first time visiting your blog but I found it to be rather intriguing, it definitely won’t be the only visit. I’m always happy to find inspiration for my creativity. 🙂 Thanks and happy Easter!
P.S. I would love to win some cash, living in Indiana right now is leaving me without the capability to get a job. But I mostly commented to thank you for inspiring me.
