A fun cake for Easter, this Easter Cake – Surprise Inside Cake is one that will leave guests shocked and delighted!

Easter Egg Surprise Inside Cake!

I made a cake in the shape of a giant egg. And trust me, it is not as hard as you would think!

To decorate the cake I just sectioned off four areas and decorated them each with royal icing or fondant. You can also use buttercream if you don’t want to mess with royal icing.

I used my White Cake recipe, made 4 layers, carved the egg shape and then frosted with whipped buttercream.

  1. Your blog makes me wish I could frost cookies. Well I can. But they don’t turn out as nice as yours nmore like misshapen lumpy things.

  2. That is just so cute and clever! It seems like a lot of planning~but very well worthwhile! Two thumbs up! d^_^b

  3. Maybe I missed it…. maybe I just haven’t read through enough of your blog yet…. but WHERE DID YOU LEARN TO BAKE LIKE THIS?!?!? OMG! I wish I could do this. However… I think I’d probably have to take a college degree’s worth of classes just to back and ice a plain white cake correctly. (I have been known to burn boiling water while cooking!) Maybe one summer (when I’m not teaching) I can take some classes and learn to NOT burn things. lol
I love seeing your work! It is so awesome! Thanks for sharing what you do!

  4. I love your cake! The chick is so cute and it’s amazing how you made the whole cake look so neat and pretty!
