I made a  cake for Mothers Day.

But it was boring.

There was nothing exciting about the outside.

There is nothing excting about the inside.

Its just a plain old cake.

Except that I made it for someone who deserves something more than ‘plain old’.

I came across this quote and thought it would be the perfect addition to this cake.

A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of cake for five people, promptly announces she never did care for cake*.  ~Tenneva Jordan

 *Original quote says ‘pie’.

And I am pretty sure that describes my mom.

Selfless.

Considerate.

Generous.

Loving.

I made a white cake with lemon frosting.

With a rose on top.

I am sure you could cover the entire top with roses!  But I dont want to bore you with frosting roses.

I do however, want to share with you a few simple, easy, personalized and significant ways for you to celebrate your mom this Mothers Day.

  1. Beautiful. I wish I could buy one of these from you on Sunday because lemon is my mom’s favorite flavor and well… I think we all know I wouldn’t have the patience for this!

  2. AMANDA!!! Oh my goodness…this is so sweet, and simple, and thoughtful, and original…and PERFECT! Oh, I LOVE it! LOVE!

  3. Such an elegant, thoughtful, and simple Mother’s Day cake! 🙂

  4. Beautiful! I love simple elegance. I have used quotes in the past for wedding cakes, graduation and birthday cakes. It always works.

  5. Your handwriting is so nice… did you pipe the letters on the cake or are they fondant?

  6. If one could be in love with a cake, I may choose this one as a mate. How perfect! The quote, the flavor combo … everything about it.
( Although, truth be told, I’m not so sure I’m that kind of mom to say I never cared for cake. My kids know me much too well. 😉 )
