I made a cake for Mothers Day.
But it was boring.
There was nothing exciting about the outside.
There is nothing excting about the inside.
Its just a plain old cake.
Except that I made it for someone who deserves something more than ‘plain old’.
I came across this quote and thought it would be the perfect addition to this cake.
A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of cake for five people, promptly announces she never did care for cake*. ~Tenneva Jordan
*Original quote says ‘pie’.
And I am pretty sure that describes my mom.
Selfless.
Considerate.
Generous.
Loving.
I made a white cake with lemon frosting.
With a rose on top.
I am sure you could cover the entire top with roses! But I dont want to bore you with frosting roses.
I do however, want to share with you a few simple, easy, personalized and significant ways for you to celebrate your mom this Mothers Day.
Right after I eat this.
absolutely stunning. I have seen the quote before but you interpretation with the cake is just fantastic. Your mom is so lucky.
I love this simple cake. It’s not boring at all, very elegant. And is that frosting? How on earth do you get it to be so smooth! I could use some serious help with my cakes. 🙂
Absolutely elegant cake, I LOVE IT ♥
what a perfect, simple, and stunning cake!
Love this cake! What a lovely quote, and I love the way you piped it onto the side of the cake. It makes it look so special! The quote sounds just like my mom. She is a very giving and selfless person too!
What a gorgeous mothers day cake. Now I want to rethink my plans!
The perfectly simple, elegant cake to celebrate the wonderful quality known as a mother’s love!
As I read the quote in your blog, my eyes welled with tears as I fondly recalled a Mother’s Day of long ago. 6 children, with the loving guidance of their daddy, swirling around the kitchen on Mother’s Day morning, preparing breakfast for their “beloved queen” (it was her day to be queen for a day!).
These days, mom suffers physically and emotionally from Parkinson’s Disease. She no longer has memories to help her remember the fond moments. 5 minutes after we’ve visited her, she won’t know that we’ve visited her, nor will she recognize us when we get there to see her sweet face.
However, my beautiful, wonderful mother still deserves to know that she was and is the light of my life… and she will definitely enjoy the sweetness of the cake as we lovingly feed it to her. 🙂
I’m going to scour your site to find a cake to make for my birthday. I’m sure it won’t look half as amazing as anything you do.
I’m pretty sure that quote describes you my sweet friend. Happy Mother’s day to you too!
Darling. And I could not agree more with that quote. Speaks volumes.
