Having Karen from Surviving Motherhood here has been amazing!! I am loving getting to get to know her face to face… which, I gotta tell ya, is exactly like she is on her blog. Precious!
We still have the Moms Night Out event tonight in Burnsville, which Karen is the keynote speaker at, but last night we had a few minutes and were able to get the vlog done!
Let preface this by saying… I REALLY dislike seeing myself on the screen. I think, "Is that how I look? Do I really make that face all the time? Stop fidgeting!"
So! I picked three of the questions submitted and we answered them Karens hotel room last night.
I have NO makeup on. I did not comb my hair. And my eyes look strangely alien like. (for the record, they are blue, but you'd never be able to tell that!)
But hanging out with Karen is a huge blessing and I love it. Thank you so much Karen!
Without further ado..
I loved hearing your answers. You are adorable.

You are toooo cute and that was a ton of fun!
Great interview! I too struggle with consistency when it comes to parenting. I think we all do!
Thanks for sharing this with us!
Fun to see you “in person” again! Give me a shout next time you head up to Fargo!
Amanda, I had such a good time with you yesterday!
And stop with all the “excuses.” You’re adorable just as you are.
See you tonight!
Shut up! Love it.
And you look so pretty without make-up and hair done. Me on the other hand…it would make you cringe.
You did great and look wonderful (but you’re right I couldn’t tell your eyes were blue, must’ve been the lighting). I think it’s natural to be afraid of who we really are because most people are not faced with ourselves on a regular basis. I don’t like the way my voice sounds when I hear it recorded, bleh! But, and I know you already know this, God isn’t capable of creating anything ugly (and that goes for me and my little problems listening to myself) so quite talking negatively about HIS creation.
Besides, you know we all think you’re cute already so who you tryin’ to fool anyway?
Just for all you “I am mommy” followers: I have known Amanda for around 10 years. Her husband’s family and my husband’s family are very close friends. Just so you know, yes Amanda is for real! She is ALWAYS this kind, generous, sweet and CREATIVE. Many years ago, my husband and I needed to be in the cities early one morning so Chad and Amanda were gracious enough to let us stay at their house the night before. We got in late and Amanda was already in bed, I don’t even think she had children yet. Anyways, on our bed in the guest room was a cute antiqued tray with sides, with bath towels rolled for each of us, a little basket of goodies (hotel shampoo and conditioner, homemade soap from somewhere, and other toiletries). The nicest was a handmade card apologizing for needing to go to bed at a normal time, and welcoming us to her home and telling us to make ourselves at home. Also included was where the orange juice in the fridge was and some pastries on the counter. I still have that card and was so warmed by a simple yet WONDERFUL gesture. I love that what you see is what you get with Amanda and love that I know she’s a part of my life! Thanks!
