Ingredients & Substitutions

  • Pineapple Juice: When it comes to pineapple juice, go for 100% juice if you can. It gives the drink a fresh, bold flavor without any added sugars or weird aftertaste. Canned or bottled is totally fine; just check the label to make sure it’s not from concentrate or loaded with extras.
  • Bourbon: This drink is made with bourbon, but it doesn’t have to be the most expensive bottle. Just pick one you enjoy drinking on its own. If you don’t have bourbon, rye whiskey works well, or you can try it with rum, brandy, or cognac for a different twist.
  • Lemon Juice: Freshly squeezed lemon juice is best for the brightest, freshest flavor. But, if you don’t have fresh lemons on hand, bottled lemon juice will do in a pinch. Just try to avoid anything with added preservatives or extra ingredients.
  • Simple Syrup: Simple syrup is just sugar and water, nothing fancy! You can buy it, but it’s super easy to make at home. Combine equal parts sugar and water in a small saucepan, warm it while stirring until the sugar dissolves, then let it cool. Store it in the refrigerator and it’ll last for a couple of weeks, ready for your next cocktail, such as an Amaretto Sour!
  • Soda Water: A splash of soda water adds that light, bubbly finish that makes this drink extra refreshing. If you don’t have soda water, club soda or sparkling water works just as well. Want a little more flavor? Try it with lemon or pineapple sparkling water. For a little sweeter option, add a splash of ginger ale.

Can I Make Pineapple Bourbon Fizz Ahead Of Time For A Party?

Yes! You can absolutely make Pineapple Bourbon Fizz ahead of time. Mix everything except the soda water and ice. Store the mixture in a pitcher in the refrigerator until ready to serve. When it’s party time, pour it over ice and top each glass with a splash of soda water for that fresh, fizzy finish. It’s an easy, crowd-pleasing cocktail that’s perfect for batching!

Can I Turn This Into a Big-Batch Cocktail?

Definitely! Just scale up the ingredients (except soda water and ice) and mix it in a large pitcher or drink dispenser. Keep it chilled, and let guests top off their own glasses with soda water for the perfect party-ready drink.

Can I Make Pineapple Bourbon Fizz Without a Cocktail Shaker?

Yes, you can! If you don’t have a shaker, just stir the pineapple juice, bourbon, lemon juice, and simple syrup well in a glass or pitcher, then pour it over ice and top with soda water. It won’t be quite as frothy, but still delicious and easy to make. Or, I like to use a coffee mug with a secure lid as a makeshift shaker, just shake gently and strain.

Can I Make A Non-Alcoholic Pineapple Bourbon Fizz?

Absolutely! To make a non-alcoholic version of Pineapple Bourbon Fizz, just swap the bourbon for iced tea, ginger ale, or even a splash of apple juice. You will still get that sweet, citrusy flavor with a refreshing fizz. This is a wonderful option for guests who want something fun and booze-free.

Autumn

I love pineapple in drinks, and this is light and refreshing! I could easily sip on this cocktail this summer.

Elizabeth

I am a bourbon fan, and I love pineapple juice, so this was a fantastic cocktail for me! But, I always use a little less simple syrup, since I don't like sweet drinks.

Stephanie

I am not a bourbon fan, but this isn't too bad. I like the fizz from the soda water.

Bella

This is a refreshing cocktail, even if you are not a fan of bourbon. I think it is balanced just right.
