Ingredients & Substitutions

  • Apple Cider: I have a delicious homemade apple cider recipe made with fresh apples that you will want for this drink, but to also enjoy on its own! But, storebought cider would also work.
  • Vodka: Use your favorite brand of vodka. Or, for an extra boost of apple flavor, try adding apple-flavored vodka! If you are not a fan of vodka, use gin or white rum for a little different twist.
  • Triple Sec: Triple Sec is an orange-flavored liqueur. Other options include Cointreau, Grand Marnier, or Orange Curacao.
  • Maple Syrup: I highly recommend pure (real) maple syrup for the richest flavor. Plus, it doesn’t have additives or artificial flavors. If you don’t have maple syrup, you could experiment with honey or agave syrup (but it will make the drink taste a little different).
  • Lemon Juice: I like the tartness of the lemon juice–it contrasts with the sweetness of the apple cider and maple syrup. Lime juice or apple cider vinegar could be used in a pinch.
  • Cinnamon: Ground cinnamon is added to the cocktail, while a cinnamon stick is used for garnish. Cinnamon brings a warm spice to the drink, which, to me, really gives it a cooler weather kind of vibe.

Can I Use Apple Juice Instead Of Apple Cider?

Yes, you can replace the apple cider with apple juice, but the drink won’t have as intense of an apple flavor. I think you would miss out on the slightly tart, more robust taste–I know I would! But, let me know if you try an apple juice martini!

Apple Cider Martini Mocktail: A Refreshing Non-Alcoholic Twist

If you are looking for a non-alcoholic version of this martini, it’s easy to make it suitable (and delicious) for all ages! All it takes is a couple of substitutions for the alcohol in the drink. Here are some non-alcholic options to try:

Instead of Vodka, try:

  • non-alcoholic spirits
  • apple juice
  • sparkling water
  • club soda

Instead of Triple Sec, try:

  • fresh orange juice
  • orange syrup
  • non-alcoholic orange liqueur

Can I Make A Martini Without A Cocktail Shaker?

Absolutely! To make an apple cider martini without a cocktail shaker, use a mason jar with a tight lid to shake everything up, then strain into a glass. I like to use a traveling coffee mug (with the lid secure, of course)! If you prefer a stirred martini, mix your ingredients with ice in a large glass or a mixing glass. Stir with a long spoon until well chilled, then strain into your serving glass.
