A fun cake for Easter, this Easter Cake – Surprise Inside Cake is one that will leave guests shocked and delighted!

Easter Egg Surprise Inside Cake!

I made a cake in the shape of a giant egg. And trust me, it is not as hard as you would think!

To decorate the cake I just sectioned off four areas and decorated them each with royal icing or fondant. You can also use buttercream if you don’t want to mess with royal icing.

I used my White Cake recipe, made 4 layers, carved the egg shape and then frosted with whipped buttercream.

  1. Man, nobody has ever made me squeal like a girl as regularly as you do. This is the most adorable thing EVER. Wait, I’ve said that before, haven’t I? Well, it’s like that old fairy tale, where there were those seven or nine or 538 or whatever princesses, and each was prettier than the other.
So in short, what I’m trying to say here is: “SQUEAL! CUTEST THING EVER!!!!”

  2. I followed you on Twitter! And posted. I love your blog, I check it out every day hoping for something new!

  3. Best use of a dolly varden tin. EVER. The chick inside is the perfect finishing touch, and I love that there is piping AND fondant as decorations.. I know a lot of people don’t like fondant.. but I love it.
You just got a new subscriber.. and I really don’t want the cash, the inspiration and eye candy is more than enough .. thank you for your creativity and sharing.
