I made a  cake for Mothers Day.

But it was boring.

There was nothing exciting about the outside.

There is nothing excting about the inside.

Its just a plain old cake.

Except that I made it for someone who deserves something more than ‘plain old’.

I came across this quote and thought it would be the perfect addition to this cake.

A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of cake for five people, promptly announces she never did care for cake*.  ~Tenneva Jordan

 *Original quote says ‘pie’.

And I am pretty sure that describes my mom.

Selfless.

Considerate.

Generous.

Loving.

I made a white cake with lemon frosting.

With a rose on top.

I am sure you could cover the entire top with roses!  But I dont want to bore you with frosting roses.

  1. Perfect sentiment for moms everywhere, Amanda. I hope that’s what my children think of me when I’m old and gray.

  2. Such a sweet idea. Any mother would be delighted to enjoy a piece of that cake on her day, myself included.

  3. Oh my word! This is absolutely gorgeous! So elegant and would make any sweet Mother’s Day just perfect.

  4. Gorgeous. Now I really wish I had spent more time practicing my piping skills. Do you think it would have the same impact if it appears to have been piped by a three year old?
