Ingredients & Substitutions

  • Mint Leaves: Did you know mint leaves are naturally calming? If you needed a reason to mix up this mojito, there it is! (Well, plus it is deliciously refreshing!) I used about 1/4 cup of mint for the drink, plus a few extra for garnish.
  • Pineapple: Fresh pineapple adds a juicy burst of sweetness that takes this mojito to the next level. I finely chopped just a couple of tablespoons to muddle with the mint. It is a small amount, but it packs in that tropical flavor. Then, I like to garnish each drink with a pineapple wedge.
  • Pineapple Juice: For the best flavor, look for 100% pineapple juice with no added sugar. It is what gives this mojito that bold, tropical punch without being too sweet.
  • Simple Syrup: Simple syrup is exactly what it sounds like, just sugar and water! You can make it at home in minutes! Then, you have a sweetener ready for cocktails like this one, iced coffee, and more!
  • Rum: Look for light rum, also called white or silver rum. It is the alcoholic base of the mojito. For a tropical flavor, try coconut rum. Or, use flavored rum like pineapple or mango for extra fruitiness.
  • Lime Juice: Freshly squeezed lime juice is the way to go, if possible. It is zesty, bright, and makes a big difference in flavor. Bottled works in a pinch, but if you’ve got a lime, give it a squeeze! Your mojito (and your taste buds) will thank you!
  • Club Soda: I love a little fizz in my drink, so I topped this mojito with club soda. You could also use sparkling or seltzer water, whatever you have on hand. Want it a little sweeter? Try lemon-lime soda!

Can You Use Canned Pineapple In A Pineapple Mojito?

Yes, you can use canned pineapple for your pineapple mojito! Just make sure to drain it well before using to avoid extra juice that could dilute the drink. Fresh pineapple is always ideal for the best flavor, but canned pineapple can work in a pinch, especially if it’s packed in its own juice rather than syrup for a more natural taste.

What’s the Difference Between a Classic Mojito and a Pineapple Mojito?

A classic mojito is a refreshing cocktail made with fresh mint, lime juice, simple syrup, rum, and club soda. It’s known for its cool, minty flavor with a hint of citrus. A pineapple mojito takes the classic recipe and adds pineapple (fresh or juice), giving it a tropical twist with a sweet, fruity flavor. The result is a perfect balance of mint, lime, and pineapple, perfect for anyone craving a fruity, tropical version of the traditional mojito.

Can You Make A Mojito Without A Cocktail Shaker? Here’s How!

No cocktail shaker? No problem! You can still easily make this Pineapple Mojito. Just grab a travel coffee mug with a tight lid. Muddle the mint and pineapple with simple syrup, then add the lime juice and rum. Add ice, seal it up, and shake it up! Once it’s well mixed, pour it into your glass of ice and top with club soda. If shaking isn’t your thing, just layer the ingredients in your glass over ice and give it a good stir.
