This High Protein Berry Bliss Smoothie is a creamy, refreshing treat packed with flavor and nutrients. It is made with Greek yogurt, mixed berries, bananas, vanilla protein powder, peanut butter, chia seeds, and honey. I love it as a delicious way to start my day (great for a grab-and-go option), but it is also perfect any time you need a tasty, energizing boost! Ingredients & Substitutions
- Milk: I like whole milk to give the smoothie a creamy texture and add calcium. You can use almond milk, oat milk, or coconut milk if you want a dairy-free option.
- Yogurt: For protein and added creaminess, I used plain Greek yogurt. Use regular yogurt or a dairy-free yogurt like coconut or almond milk yogurt for a different flavor.
- Mixed Berries: Frozen mixed berries add a sweet and fruity flavor, plus vitamins and antioxidants. Frozen fruits like mangos and peaches would also be delicious.
- Bananas: I love bananas, so I had to add one to this smoothie. Bananas are packed with potassium, which helps your heart and muscles. They also have fiber for digestion, and vitamin C to boost your immune system, and give you a natural energy boost! I add bananas to my Strawberry Banana Smoothie and Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie, too!
- Protein Powder: Protein powder helps make the smoothie more filling and gives your body the protein it needs to build muscles and stay strong. I used vanilla protein powder, but chocolate would be good, too! Or, if you don’t have protein powder, you can leave it out and still enjoy this refreshing smoothie!
- Peanut Butter: Creamy peanut butter adds a rich, nutty flavor and healthy fats. Almond butter, sunflower seed butter, or cashew butter work well for a different nutty taste.
- Chia Seeds: Chia seeds are good for digestion because they have fiber, and they also provide healthy fats that are good for your heart. You can use flax seeds or hemp seeds for a similar texture and nutrients.
- Honey: I like to use locally sourced honey when I can; it can have more nutrients when compared to store-bought honey. If you don’t have honey, maple syrup, agave nectar, or a couple of dates can be used for sweetness instead.
Can I Use Fresh Berries Instead Of Frozen Berries?
Yes, you can use fresh berries instead of frozen. Just keep in mind that your smoothie might not be as thick, and you may need to add ice to make it colder and more refreshing. (And, adding too much ice can water down the smoothie, so use frozen berries if possible.)
How To Make Your Berry Bliss Smoothie Thicker
To make your Berry Bliss Protein Smoothie thicker, try adding more frozen fruit, like extra berries or a frozen banana. You can also use less liquid, like milk or almond milk. Or, sometimes I will add a scoop of Greek yogurt or oats!
How To Store A Berry Bliss Smoothie
I love a freshly made smoothie, but you can make it and save it for the next day if you need to. To store your Berry Bliss Protein Smoothie for later, pour it into an airtight container or jar and keep it in the refrigerator for up to a day. For longer storage, you can freeze it in ice cube trays or a sealed container and blend it again when you’re ready to enjoy it.
