Cranberry Honey Butter is a sweet and tangy spread perfect for the holiday season or any time you want to add a festive touch to your meals! Butter is blended with whole-berry cranberry sauce, giving it a burst of tartness, while honey adds a sweetness to each bite. I love it on rolls, biscuits, or even pancakes and waffles. It is a versatile spread that is delicious on both sweet and savory dishes. If you are looking for something with a bit more warmth and spice, you will want to try my Whipped Gingerbread Butter, too!
Ingredients & Substitutions
- Butter: Butter is the base of the spread, making it creamy and smooth. I prefer using unsalted butter because it lets me control the amount of salt in the recipe. If using salted butter, I recommend skipping the kosher salt in the butter spread. You can always add a pinch later if needed.
- Cranberry Sauce: I like using whole cranberry sauce to add a little texture to the butter. Regular cranberry sauce would also work, but it will be a bit smoother and sweeter without the whole cranberries. I also have an easy cranberry sauce you could make to use!
- Honey: Honey adds a natural sweetness to balance the tartness of the cranberries. It also makes the butter smooth and easy to spread.
- Salt: A small amount of salt helps bring out the flavors of the butter, cranberry, and honey. Just a pinch balances the sweetness and tartness to make the spread taste just right.
Delicious Ways To Use Cranberry Honey Butter
There are so many delicious ways to enjoy the taste of this cranberry honey butter. Here are a few of my favorites:
- Spread on warm dinner rolls, crusty bread (like a French baguette), or my butter swim biscuits.
- Instead of regular syrup, try adding a dollop of the compound butter to your pancakes or waffles for extra flavor.
- Serve with muffins, especially ones like my pumpkin spice muffins and old-fashioned apple muffins!
- Spread a little bit on toast or a bagel. (It’s a great and tasty way to start your day!)
- It makes a delicious topping to your roasted sweet potatoes or mashed sweet potatoes.
- Serve it with cheese and crackers for an appetizer!
- Add it to the list of spreads on your Surf and Turf Butter Board. (It’s great with meats.)
How To Store Cranberry Honey Butter
Store the whipped cranberry honey butter in an airtight container in the refrigerator, where it will last up to 1-2 weeks. Alternatively, roll it into a log, wrap it in plastic wrap, and store it that way. For longer storage, you can freeze the butter.
Can I Freeze Cranberry Honey Butter?
Yes, you can freeze this butter. To freeze cranberry honey butter, I like to roll it into a log first. (This makes it easier to slice off portions when needed.) Simply wrap the log tightly in plastic wrap or parchment paper, then store it in a freezer-safe bag or container. When ready to use it, just thaw the portion you need in the refrigerator.

Cranberry Honey Butter
Ingredients
- 1 cup (2 sticks / 227 g) unsalted butter, room temperature
- ยผ cup (69 g) whole berry cranberry sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 pinch kosher salt
Instructions
- In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream the butter on medium speed until smooth, about 1-2 minutes.
- Increase mixer speed to high. Whip for 5-7 minutes, scraping the sides of the bowl as needed, until the butter is airy and lighter in color.
- Add the cranberry sauce, honey, and salt. Mix on low until fully incorporated, about 1 more minute.
- Serve immediately on pastries, pancakes, or biscuits.
Shaping Cranberry Honey Butter Into A Log
- To make a log of compound butter, scoop the cranberry honey butter onto a piece of plastic wrap. Roll the butter into a log shape, pressing and shaping as you go. Twist the ends of the plastic wrap together to secure the log, and refrigerate until firm (at least 2 hours or up to overnight).
