Ingredients & Substitutions

  • Lemonade Concentrate: Look for a 12-ounce can of frozen lemonade concentrate in the freezer section of your grocery store. Any brand will work; just make sure itโ€™s the kind thatโ€™s meant to be mixed with water. (But, for this recipe, youโ€™ll be using it straight for that bold, zesty flavor!). If you can’t find lemon concentrate, try using frozen limeade!
  • Strawberry Ice Cream: If you want the creamiest strawberry ice cream, you have to try my no-churn version. Seriously, itโ€™s so easy to make, and you donโ€™t need any special equipment. Iโ€™ve got quite a few flavors now, so be sure to check them all out!

Can I Make Frosted Strawberry Lemonade Without A Blender?

Yes! While using a blender definitely makes the drink super smooth and creamy, you can still whip up this Frosted Strawberry Lemonade without it. Just make sure the lemonade concentrate is softened completely. Then, stir it really well with softened strawberry ice cream. It might not be quite as frothy, but trust me, itโ€™s still delicious and perfect for cooling off on a hot day!

Can I Use Strawberries Instead Of Strawberry Ice Cream?

Yes, you can! Using fresh or frozen strawberries will give you a lighter, fruitier drink. But keep in mind that strawberry ice cream makes it creamy and sweet. If you use strawberries, try blending them with a little sugar and some milk or yogurt to make it smooth. It wonโ€™t be exactly the same, but itโ€™ll still taste great and be really refreshing!

Can I Use Regular Lemonade Instead of Frozen Lemonade Concentrate?

You can, but the texture and flavor will be different. Frozen lemonade concentrate is thicker and more tart, which helps create that creamy, frosty consistency. If you use regular lemonade (like my homemade lemonade), the drink will be thinner and less tangy. To get closer to the original, try freezing regular lemonade into ice cubes first, then blend those with the ice cream. But, if you are all about strawberry lemonade drinks, try my State Fair Strawberry Lemonade!

Can I Add Alcohol To Frosted Strawberry Lemonade?

Yes! Just blend in a shot of vodka, rum, or tequila after mixing the lemonade and ice cream. Start with 1โ€“2 ounces per serving and adjust to your taste. Adding alcohol may thin it out a bit, so add a little more ice cream or freeze briefly if you want it extra frosty.
