Ingredients & Substitutions

  • Cereal: Golden Grahams cereal gives the bars that familiar graham cracker flavor from S’mores, plus a nice crunch!
  • Marshmallows: Miniature marshmallows give the bar that chewy texture. Regular marshmallows can work, too. Just cut them into smaller pieces. Or, if feeling ambitious, make homemade marshmallows!
  • Chocolate Chips: For the sweetness, I used milk chocolate chips. But, dark chocolate chips would be delicious, I think. Or, try the bars with peanut butter chips, which I think I would love, too!
  • Butter: Butter helps melt the marshmallows and binds everything together, making the bars sticky and delicious. I used unsalted butter, but salted butter would be fine, too.

Can You Use A Different Cereal In S’mores Bars?

Yes, you can use different cereals if you don’t have Golden Grahams! You can use Rice Krispies, Cornflakes, or any cereal with a similar texture. Golden Grahams add a unique flavor, but other cereals will still work well.

How To Store S’mores Bars

Store S’mores bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. If you want them to last a little bit longer, keep them in the refrigerator, covered, for up to 5 days or so.

Can You Freeze S’mores Bars?

Yes, you can freeze Sโ€™mores Bars! First, make sure the bars cool completely before freezing so they donโ€™t get soggy. Then, wrap them tightly in plastic wrap or wax paper to keep them fresh. After that, place the wrapped bars in a freezer-safe bag or container to protect them from freezer burn. You can freeze them for up to 3 months. When ready to eat them, just let the bars thaw at room temperature for a few hours or heat them in the microwave for a few seconds to soften them up.
