Triple Chocolate Devils Food Cookies
With just five simple ingredients, you can get these cookies made and enjoyed! And, don’t give up on the cookies just because they are made with a box mix. I proudly share with you a far-from-scratch recipe that I have come to love. It’s over the top and rich and easy and wonderful. There is an obscene amount of white chocolate chips and that is just the way I like it. (You can certainly decrease the amount you use to accommodate your tastes.)
Triple Chocolate Devils Food Cookies Ingredients
Again, these cookies are only five simple ingredients!
Cake Mix: Go out and buy a box of Devil Food Cake Mix for this recipe and don’t apologize for using a box mix!
Wet Ingredients: Either vegetable or canola oil will work in this recipe. And, make sure you are using room-temperature eggs.
Chocolate Chips: I chose to add more white chocolate chips than milk chocolate, but you can definitely do the opposite. Or, just use all of one kind of flavored chip.
How to Make Triple Chocolate Devils Food Cookies
It’s so easy to make these cookies, there really is no excuse not to make them. To make the cookies, first, pour the dry cake mix into a bowl. Next, add the oil and eggs, mixing until well combined. Finally, fold in the chocolate chips.
Once the cookie dough is ready, use a small ice cream scoop or tablespoon to scoop out small balls. Place about eight on each cookie sheet. I made 24 cookies from this recipe. There is no need to roll the dough between your hands unless you prefer a smoother-looking cookie. They will taste delicious no matter what!

Totally game for devouring these ๐ Such a great story and reminder!
Thank you Rachel!
Honestly, my favorite brownies are from a box. They’re fudgy, delicious, and taste good. I only make “from scratch” brownies if I’m making less than a full pan. These look so soft and delicious! Who cares that they’re from a cake mix? ๐
I enjoy boxed brownie mix too… a lot. ๐
Same here, Faith!
I think the chips would be too chocolately for my picky kids- if I leave them out will it affect the recipe? With no mix in add in?how do you know if they are done or how do they look when you remove from oven? Thanks!
You can certainly omit the chips. Bake the same. I would not bake longer than 10 minutes.
Crocker please!
I’m all about the boxes mix. I’ve never made a cake from scratch in my life. I’d never be able to tell the difference. My only concern in how to get the cake from the plate to mah belly.
I was confused about one statement however: cake is meant to be shared?
!!!!
NO! #sharingisoverrated

‘Crocker Please’ is one of my favorite lines you have EVER said!!!!
But if you make a cake and didnt share it with me I will cut you.
Amanda, You are so right…it’s all in the giving, the thoughtfulness, the kind gesture. These chocolate cookies looks delicious! I truly enjoyed your personal story about meeting your future family.
Thank you Joan!
I love this post, Amanda! It really is the thought that counts. My mom and I have a secret brownie recipe that everyone always loves, and it’s from a box mix! We just add some extra things to make it better. But I never tell anyone that because it’s so easy and soo good that everyone would be out making it, and then it wouldn’t be a secret anymore. haha ๐
Good for you, this is so true!!! Such a great reminder.
Thanks beautiful lady!
Love these! So easy my kiddos could make them no problem! Thanks for sharing your sweet memories with us.
I choose to look on the “It’s from a box” comment as meaning, “Can you believe how good these are, and they came from a box! Easy and delicious, what could be better?” OTOH, it could be as mean-spirited as it sounded–possibly about the box, but also possibly about Carol because, seriously? She didn’t have enough going on in her life at the time?–but I choose to believe in our better selves. The act of baking for someone is a gift and what Carol did for you through that gift was and still is precious.
Thanks for the recipe and heartwarming story! I agree whole-heartedly about the box mix and scratch cake standoff! I bake for family and friends and no one has ever complained about a box mix! In fact, some have said ‘how come it doesn’t come out this way when I make it?’
People like a scratch cake too when I make that but most importantly – It’s Cake, People! It’s barely on the table before someone is cutting it, tasting it, etc. And everyone feels good – and that’s the point! Thanks for sharing!
