  1. I know the sugar cookie post is from a while ago, but it looks like the perfect cookie recipe… http://iammommy.typepad.com/my_weblog/2009/12/dont-let-this-happen-to-you.html
I lost the one I used to use for cut out cookies when I moved from Ireland and I just can’t remember the quantities.
I have a couple questions… Firstly, if I don’t have the almond extract will it be gross without? Should I add a little extra vanilla?
Also, does the dough freeze well? I’m thinking about making it in advance but I have made some doughs before that just don’t like to be frozen.
I’m thinking about making hubbie some cookies for valentines day – I know he’d appreciate it since I haven’t done much baking since I’ve been pregnant!

  2. Thanks for the ideas. I think I’ll try the strawberry filled cupcakes, they’re about my speed. Valentine’s day will be great and you can have the credit.

  4. This has got to be the best assortment of Valentine’s Day treats I have ever seen! I nearly fainted when I saw the petit fours! Wish I could make all of these by Valentine’s Day!

  5. Hi Amanda, I made the Valentine’s Cake (over a 4 day period!) ~ a few flops, but finally got it all glued together. Not much of a baker, but this was a great project. My Mom in South Africa quilts, ~ perhaps I was inspired in a similar way here 🙂 … I am on a strict diet (Bootcamp), so decided to give this cake to 2 of my dear friends who became engaged over Chirstmas. My musician friend and my hairdresser ~ they LOVE the cake! I have not yet seen the inside heart, but they promised they would send me a pic. I will send you a photo show of the making of the cake, put to my musicians own composition “Love is Free, This Christmas”. I will email you a copy of the photo show.
Thanks for the great recipe ~ it is currently my FaceBook page (the cake).
