Peanut Butter Hot Fudge is a rich and smooth sauce made with chocolate and peanut butter melted perfectly together! Drizzle it over ice cream, brownies (my favorite), or even fresh fruit! If you love this peanut butter twist on classic hot fudge, you have got to try my Salted Hot Fudge, too! It’s just as rich and velvety, with the perfect balance of sweet and salty.

Ingredients & Substitutions

  • Sweetened Condensed Milk: Sweetened condensed milk makes the hot fudge base extra sweet and creamy. Just be sure to grab the right can—evaporated milk won’t work here! (Trust me, that mix-up is not a fun surprise.)
  • Chocolate Chips: The semi-sweet chocolate chips give the fudge its deep, rich chocolate flavor and smooth texture, balancing the sweetness of the condensed milk. You can swap them for dark chocolate chips for a bolder taste or milk chocolate chips for extra sweetness. Chopped chocolate bars also work well.
  • Peanut Butter: For a creamy consistency, use creamy peanut butter. But, if you prefer a little crunch, use crunchy peanut butter! Either works just fine.
  • Butter: I used unsalted butter to give the hot fudge a rich, silky texture. Salted butter would work, too, if that is what you have.
  • Vanilla Extract: Even though I only used 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract, it makes a difference in the final flavor. It also helps balance the richness so the fudge isn’t too heavy.

Besides as a topping for my no-churn vanilla ice cream, there are many other delicious ways to use peanut butter hot fudge! Here are some of my favorites:

  1. Pour it over warm brownies.
  2. Make a sundae with whipped cream, crushed nuts, and a cherry on top.
  3. Blend it into milkshakes or smoothies. It would be a delicious addition to my peanut butter banana smoothie!
  4. Drizzle it over pancakes and waffles for a sweet breakfast treat. Yum! (Is it time for breakfast, yet?!?)
  5. Layer it with whipped cream and granola for a fun, layered dessert.
  6. Pour a little over no-bake granola bars.
  7. Dip sliced apples, strawberries, or bananas into it for a sweet snack.

If you are not going to use the peanut butter hot fudge within a couple of weeks, freeze it! To freeze hot fudge, let it cool, then transfer it to an airtight container or freezer-safe bag. It will stay good in the freezer for up to 3 months. When ready to use it, thaw it in the fridge overnight and reheat as needed.
