Ingredients & Substitutions

  • Cinnamon Rolls: I used store-bought cinnamon rolls for convenience; any brand works. You can use classic rolls or even a vegan option if needed. Skip the icing for this bake (I didn’t use it), or drizzle it on top after baking if you like extra sweetness.
  • Apple Pie Filling: Use canned apple pie filling, chopped into small pieces. For a fresher version, you can make homemade apple pie filling!
  • Vanilla Ice Cream (Optional): Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for a sweet, creamy finish.

FAQs

Can I use fresh apples instead of canned?

Yes! Dice fresh apples and cook them with a bit of sugar and cinnamon until tender. Use in place of the canned filling.

Can I make this ahead of time?

You can assemble the bake a few hours ahead and keep it covered in the refrigerator. Bake just before serving.

Can I make it dairy-free?

Yes! Choose a dairy-free cinnamon roll brand and pair it with non-dairy ice cream.

Can I double this recipe?

Absolutely! Use a larger baking dish and increase bake time slightly, keeping an eye on the top so it doesn’t over-brown.
