I know I said I would stop with the red and green but apparently I was totally lying. Sorry.
I made a white cake, tinted some frosting red and green, then melted some chocolate. Have you ever made chocolate curls? I had tried once before. It was a major fail. I am pretty sure there were even some comments mocking my skills, and if they werent totally right I might have been upset.
Ok, so looks like I still have not mastered this technique. I could not get one single perfect swirly curl.
I blame the red candy melts I used. And the warm December weather. And that one boy in 2nd grade who called me 4-eyes. *cough*
Clearly I have issues.
In addition to sharing this sweet little Christmas cake with you, I also wanted to share a couple other cakes that I think you would enjoy!
I can’t help but be drawn to the beauty of the red, white & green color palate and you will see that most of my Christmas cakes fall inline with that theme!

Hope you will enjoy at least one of these festive cakes!
Just being a smartphone in general is pretty darn cool! My phone is a basic, so anything would be cool.
Oh my GOSH that looks so fantastic!
Love the cake, need a phone. Thanks
I don’t have a smart phone yet….looks great!! Love that cake!
The long battery life.
That is an absolutely beautiful cake!!! Great giveaway, too!!
Forget the phone, where can I find a tutorial/recipe for this cake?!!? This would be a great addition to my holiday baking!!! 😉
Ha! You are the cutest. Here you go: I made a double recipe of white cake so I had four layers. Make a huge batch of frosting. Tint one cup red and one 1/2 cup green. Place one layer on cake stand and cover with 1/2 cup red frosting. Place another layer, cover with green frosting. Place another layer and cover with remaining red frosting. Place final layer on top and cover cake in crumb coat. Place in fridge to set. To make curls I followed this tutorial: http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2008/06/how-tomake-chocolate-curls/ I am sure you will do better than I on yours! 🙂 I used one bag of red candy melts total. Start by place “curls” around top exterior of cake and build up. Any really awful curls I threw in the middle of the top of the cake so it had a more sturdy base. Just build up until you have your desired amount. Happy Baking!
Hi Amanda,
The first time I tried the chocolate curls, they did not turn out. They kept braking. Since you used candy melts, did you still use shortening? Thank you. Your cake is fabulous!!
I like the high mexapixels on the camera. 🙂
anything is better than my ancient brick of a phone
The battery life! My stupid phone holdsa charge for about three seconds. And the camera sounds awesome!
