Ingredients & Substitutions

  • Fruit: The fruit really shines in this simple recipe! I used blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, and cherries.
  • Yellow Cake Mix: The cake mix acts as the base for the cobbler topping. Using a boxed mix makes this recipe so easy for a sweet, crumbly crust.
  • Butter: When mixed with the cake mix, the cold, diced unsalted butter creates a crumbly, buttery topping that bakes into a golden, delicious crust. The butter helps to moisten the cake mix and adds richness to the cobbler. Salted butter could also be used.
  • Whipped Cream: You could skip the whipped cream for the topping, but I highly recommend adding a dollop or two to top off the fruity dessert!

Delicious Alternative Fruits For Your Cobbler

It’s easy to try other kinds of fruits or what is in season to add unique flavors and textures to your fruit cobbler. Here are some delicious alternatives you can use and combine:

  • Peaches
  • Apples
  • Pears
  • Plums
  • Blackberries
  • Pineapple
  • Mango

Feel free to mix and match fruits to create your own unique cobbler!

How To Store Easy Fruit Cobbler

To store the fruit cobbler, first, let it cool completely. Next, cover the cobbler and store it at room temperature or in the refrigerator. It will last up to a couple of days if left out or up to 4-5 days in the refrigerator. Warm it up in the oven or microwave.

Can I Freeze Easy Fruit Cobbler?

Yes! Freezing cobbler is a great way to keep it fresh to enjoy it at a later time. To freeze:

  1. Cool Completely: Allow the cobbler to cool completely after baking. This prevents condensation from forming.
  2. Portion (Optional): If you prefer, you can portion the cobbler into individual servings. This makes it easier to reheat only what you need later.
  3. Wrap: For a whole cobbler: Wrap the entire dish tightly with plastic wrap, then cover it with a layer of aluminum foil. Make sure the wrapping is airtight to prevent freezer burn.
  4. For individual portions: Wrap each portion tightly in plastic wrap, then place the wrapped portions in a resealable freezer bag or airtight container.
  5. Label: Label the container or bag with the date to keep track of how long it has been in the freezer.
  6. Freeze: Place the wrapped cobbler or portions in the freezer. It can be stored for up to 2-3 months.
  7. To Serve: When ready to enjoy, let the cobbler thaw in the refrigerator before reheating.

  1. Hi, while this is a straightforward recipe, I cannot find anything for yellow cake mix. The region where I stay, we dont get boxed mixes. If you have a recipe for the yellow cake mix, could you please share it? Also, a video for the Cobbler cake would be helpful
