What is Vanilla Simple Syrup?

Vanilla Syrup is basically a concentrated version of simple syrup with vanilla flavoring or vanilla bean added to it. It is what is added to flavored coffee drinks. If you have ever ordered a Vanilla Latte they added flavored syrup to it. I also used it in my Strawberries and Cream Milk…yum!

Ingredients

This recipe uses only three ingredients!

Water: In general, it’s a 1:1 ratio of water and sugar in simple syrup recipes. If you add more sugar than water, the syrup will be sweeter. And, on the other hand, for a little less sweetness, use more water than sugar.

Sugar: Most people have granulated sugar in their house, which is what you will need.

Vanilla: The added vanilla extract gives it the vanilla flavor.

How to Store Vanilla Syrup

After you have the syrup made, let it cool completely before storing it. When ready, store it in a clean sealed container or bottle in the refrigerator for up to three weeks. I prefer a bottle that can be poured easily and be tightly closed.

How to Use Vanilla Syrup

It makes sense to add some sweetener to drinks like coffee and cocktails. But, how else can you use this homemade syrup? My favorite way is cakes, but I also love this in coffee drinks like my Chocolate Cream Cold Brew!

Try some drizzled on your waffles or pancakes. You could also use it to add moisture to baked cakes. Or, drizzle some on a bowl of fruit, in your yogurt, or over a bowl of ice cream.

  1. So good & so, dare I say, simple! I made this today – used it for a cold brew and blueberry waffles so far. I had enough to store in the fridge for a bit, and plan to use it in other ways! Definitely recommend!!
