Copycat Starbucks Mocha Frappuccino

Frappucinos are iced, blended drinks trademarked by Starbucks that can be made with or without coffee. This cold and refreshing drink has espresso in it, so it will give you a boost of energy from caffeine. With the added chocolate syrup, you will get that mocha flavor in every sip!

Espresso: Espresso is a concentrated form of coffee. It’s made with finely-ground coffee beans and an espresso machine that blasts boiling water through the ground coffee. It is served in shots (about 1 ounce per shot). It can be made with any kind of coffee, from light roast to dark roast. You can also buy espresso ground coffee and even espresso K-cups you can make in a Keurig coffee maker. If using regular coffee, the coffee flavor will be less intense.

Chocolate SyrupOf course, the blend of chocolate and coffee is the definition of mocha. So, make your own chocolate syrup to have on hand for this, and other recipes like my Chocolate Syrup Mug Cake.

Milk: Whole milk will give you the creamiest drink; but, you could definitely use any milk you have on hand. For a drink with fewer calories, use skim milk or 1% milk.

Whipped CreamThis drink is topped off with whipped cream, or cool whip. Make your own homemade whipped cream to use.

      1. Hi Lori,
I use Cafe Bustelo instant. And I add a couple of teaspoons to just a bit of hot water to dissolve it and then just follow the recipe. And it tastes absolutely delightful 😊

    1. Hi, Teresa! I work with iambaker and am happy to help with questions. Espresso is a concentrated form of coffee that is served in shots. I hope this helps, and have a great day!

  2. What espresso maker do you have? I do not own one but would love one. I akways have espresso powder on hand though, could I use that for drinks??

  3. Alternative to making it healthier, say like for a diabetic. How much stevia would you use to replace the regular granulated sugar and is that possible and still get the same reat taste. By cheeks any one know what brand coffee to use? I’m not a coffee drinker so when you put me on the aisle at the grocery store, I get overwhelmed with anxiety trying to figure out which coffee to buy! THERE’S SO MANY OPTIONS…

  4. I have been trying to get the product name or substitute product of the “binding” ingredient Starbucks adds to their Frappachino’s? It’s the light yellow/Goldish colored liquid they put a couple pumps into the mix? How important is a binding product?
    Thank you in advance!
    Terry

    1. Dear Terry,
My guess is that the “binding syrup” is a liquid form of sugar; either a thick sugar or thin, caramel syrup. It could even be light corn syrup. Happy experimenting!
