Ingredients & Substitutions

  • Ice Cream: For the creamiest ice cream, you have to try my no-churn ice cream! After I made the vanilla, I had to make other flavors like blueberry, strawberry, and chocolate ice cream, to name a few. You could also use store-bought ice cream or frozen yogurt for a lighter option.
  • Milk: Adding whole milk gives the milkshake a creamy texture as opposed to milk that is lower in fat (like 2%, 1%, or skim). On the other hand, you could try half-and-half or heavy whipping cream for an even creamier texture. Almond milk, soy milk, or oat milk could also be used.
  • Oreo Cookies: We can’t have an Oreo milkshake without Oreo cookies! Besides adding them to the milkshake, have a few extra for the topping! If you don’t have Oreos, you could use chocolate chip cookies, chocolate wafers, or fudge stripe cookies.
  • Optional Toppings: Don’t forget about the whipped cream (homemade or storebought), more Oreo cookies, and chocolate syrup for serving. All of those extra toppings not only make the milkshake look good, but they all add to the flavor and taste!

Can I Make A Milkshake Without A Blender?

Yes! You can make an Oreo milkshake without a blender by using a mason jar, whisk, hand mixer, or food processor. First, soften the vanilla ice cream and chop the Oreo cookies. For the mason jar method, combine the ice cream, milk, chopped Oreos, and vanilla extract in a jar, then shake it well. If using a whisk, mix the ingredients in a bowl until smooth. With a hand mixer, blend the ingredients in a bowl on low speed. For a food processor, pulse everything together until smooth. Pour the milkshake into a glass and add the toppings!

How To Enhance Your Oreo Milkshake

I love this Oreo milkshake as-is, but it is always a fun and tasty experiment to add more flavors. Here are some I would recommend:

  • Add a spoonful of creamy or crunchy peanut butter.
  • Blend in some fresh or frozen strawberries, bananas, or raspberries to add a fruity flavor.
  • Mix in a shot of espresso or some instant coffee granules for a coffee-flavored Oreo milkshake thatโ€™s perfect for a caffeine boost!
  • Add a few drops of mint extract and green food coloring for a minty twist.
  • Swirl in some caramel sauce to add a sweet, buttery taste that complements the cookies and cream.
  • Add a dollop of marshmallow fluff or a few mini marshmallows for a sweet, gooey texture.

How Long Can You Store An Oreo Milkshake?

It is best to enjoy the milkshake immediately. However, you can store it in the refrigerator or freezer if you need to store it for a bit longer.

  • Refrigerator: Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Shake or stir well before drinking to recombine any separated ingredients.
  • Freezer: If freezing, store the milkshake in an airtight container in the freezer for up to a week. When ready to enjoy, let it thaw in the refrigerator for a few hours or at room temperature for 15-30 minutes. Then, blend or stir to restore the creamy texture.
