Homemade Funfetti Cake

Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 25 minutes
Total Time 35 minutes
Do you have that one chore that you simply detest? For me, it’s washing the dishes. I would rather iron every single one of my husband’s shirts with military precision than do dishes.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 c 281g all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp. 15ml McCormick® vanilla extract
  • 1 stick butter 113g softened
  • 2 tbsp. 30ml vegetable oil
  • 1 1/4 350ml cups milk
  • 1 c 160g rainbow jimmies
  • 1 tsp. 6g salt
  • 3 1/2 tsp. 17g baking powder
  • 1 1/2 c 300g granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs

Instructions

  • Place softened butter into stand mixer and mix on medium for 1-2 minutes.
  • Add milk, oil, vanilla and eggs and mix on low for one minute.
  • Place dry ingredients into stand mixer and combine on low for 30 seconds.
  • Remove from mixer and scrape down sides. Finish stirring by hand if not all combined.
  • Pour batter into prepared pans. Bake at 350.
  • For 9-inch pans its 20-25 minutes. For cupcakes start checking around 15 minutes.
  • Cool before frosting.

  1. i let my kids pick out a theme for there birthdays then i make a cake cookies cake pops or whatever to match an i always use lots clear glass & white glass so fun!!

  2. I am a member of a Women’s group at church called Esther’s circle and when it’s my turn to be hostess I like to make the party a special occasion since a lot of the members are in their nineties and don’t get out often. I make my own single serving dishes out of finds from the Flea Market. I take flowery old saucers and glue them to clear candle sticks for individual cake stands. In the past I have made Easter baskets out of old cup and saucers. I have used different colored dish cloths as napkins and this way they can take them home. I like making things that they can take with them as a lot of them are in assisted living and don’t have much space.

  3. My sister and I made a decision when we turn fifty to celebrate our birthdays with a theme or something we like d that we seen ,like a cake or food we always wanted to try. Last year I had a two tiered cake and a lobster dinner including champagne . Even though I had lobster and champagne before the tiered cake was the the something special . When I seen your beautiful cakes I know what I will have this year . Thanks for this giveaway and the ideals.

  4. Perfect coordination always comes with colors……… All my platters are white so the plates, napkins, plastic cutlery all get colors. Oh and the table cloths too!

  5. I buy all white serving pieces, that way, I can combine them with any color or just go all white for an elegant setting!

  6. I just go eclectic with different dishes and serveware I have around the house and throw in some color with flowers.
